Chocolate Turtle Cake

So for mother's day yesterday, I made a beautiful cake. It was a "Chocolate Turtle" Cake--basically chocolate cake mix with chocolate pudding, pecans and chocolate chips thrown into the mix. The cake was then cut in half so there were four pieces. These were layered with cream cheese/dulche du leche frosting and Turtle candies in between the layers. Finally, it was covered in chocolate frosting with dulche du leche drizzled over the top with more pecans and candies.

It was a bit of a mess to get together. I had some trouble slicing the cakes without them breaking and the bottom of one of the cakes broke when I took it out of the pan to cool but it came together nicely anyway.

The cake was absolutely delicious, very chocolate-y.  The only suggestion I would make is maybe taking the candies out of the layers in between--they got a little hard to chew. But it was still DELICIOUS!

Bon appetit!
XO!

Well, hello!

This blog is a chance to share all of the yummy (or maybe not so yummy!) things I bake over the next summer and perhaps year if I can get my hands on a kitchen at school.

I'm in love with finding and trying recpies, and I want to be able to document and share the things I do with friends & family all over--so that's the reason for the blog. It's also a way to see how much I've grown as a cook/baker over the next few months. I absolutely love food, the power of food and the beauty of food. :)

Professional by no means, amateur by all. But that's how we learn, eh?

This is a place to share my journey in the kitchen with all those who love me and enjoy good food as well; a place to share recipes; celebrate joy and accept failure in the most delicious way. Enjoy! And bon appetit!

Eat well & love often! XO!
